INTRODUCTION

WPC Import License is a document issued or granted by the Government of India. The holder of such a license is authorized to import certain goods and services into the national territory. Each Import License has a quota that specifies the number of goods that may be imported and that quota must not be exceeded.

WPC issues this Import License for the import of any equipment or device other than the Broadcasting Receiver and TVRO system. Other than that, for all the devices and equipment an import license is required from WPC.

There are three categories:

Import by Licensed Users
Import by DPL holders
Import of De-licensed band types of equipment.

Procedure

Open WPC in your browser.

Enter your details i.e. Login ID, Password and other required details.

04.

Once signed up, select the license you want to apply for and apply for that.

05.

Submit the required documents with application and prescribed fees in WPC office.

06.

Once the application is accepted by WPC. The license is granted.

Import by Licensed Users

Duly filled application form downloaded from www.wpc.dot.gov.in
Print-out of an online application filed for an import license
Copy of Signed Purchase order from the end-user holding Decision Letter/frequency earmarking letter.
Copy of signed Invoice from the supplier to the end-user
Copy of decision letter/frequency earmarking letter issued by WPC
Technical literature/specification of the equipment regarding the band of frequency, power, etc should be furnished and should match with the decision letter.
High sea sales Agreement between the service provider and Indian subsidiary incase purchase through high sea sales
SBI Demand Draft of Rs.500/- per application
Separate application should be made per port of import
Details of equipment imported earlier during last one year along with utilization.
Security clearance for the purchase orders issued after 3rd December 2009 in case of service providers
In case of import of GSM/CDMA wireless equipment, Equipment Type Approval issued by WPC or necessary documents confirming the equipment to ITU/TEC/3GPP/3GPP-2/ETSI/IETF/ANSI/EIA/TIA/IS etc. needs to be submitted

Import by DPL holders

Print-out of an online application filed for an import license
Copy of Signed Purchase order from the end user holding Decision Letter/frequency earmarking letter to DPL holder. Copy of Signed Purchase order from the end-user holding Decision Letter/frequency earmarking letter to DPL holder.
Copy of Signed Purchase order from DPL holder to the foreign supplier
Copy of signed Invoice from the supplier to the DPL holder
Copy of decision letter/frequency earmarking letter issued by WPC to the end-user
Technical literature/specification of the equipment regarding the band of frequency, power, etc should be furnished and should match with decision letter issued by WPC.
SBI Demand Draft of Rs.500/- per application
Separate application should be made per port of import
Details of equipment imported earlier during last one year along with utilization.
Copy of valid Dealer Possession License
The equipment proposed for import should be in the list of equipment in the DPL.
