A Brief History of Walkie-Talkies

Did you know that handheld two-way radios were originally developed for military use? The concept evolved from backpack radios carried by infantry soldiers. One of the pioneers was Henryk Magnuski, a Polish engineer who later joined Motorola and contributed to the creation of the SCR-536, the world’s first hand-held radio transceiver. His patent, filed in May 1935 and granted in March 1936, laid the foundation for modern walkie-talkies.
